四惡比丘

The four wicked (sa) bhikṣus who threw over the teaching of their Buddha 大莊嚴 Dazhuangyan after his nirvana; these suffered in the deepest hells, came forth purified, but have not been able to attain perfection because of their past unbelief; v. 佛藏經往古品. Also four disobedient (sa) bhikṣus who through much purgation ultimately became the Buddhas of the four points of the compass, 阿閦, 寳相, 無量壽, and 微妙聲.
